This is not a book with a bland beginning, but rather a book about Bland's first case, before he became a police inspector.In this book young Bland is a law clerk obsessed with criminology. His good friend Anthony Shelton tells him about being assaulted and robbed of a first edition of Victorian poems, and Bland's great adventure in detection begins.Although this book was published in 1949, it feels almost Victorian. The plot is a story within a story, set in 1. "Bravo!!!" according to Andrew. Outstanding mystery, written in the style of the masters of mystery-writing!!! The plot is excellent, the character development is outstanding, and the grammar is above reproach. This author has equaled both Agatha and Dorothy. I'm looking forward to reading more of the Bland series.. Three Stars Too much cricket jargon!
