Needleman's introduction gives an excellent overview not only of the basic ideas of the Gurdjieff teaching but also touches on how the ideas are relevant to the human situation. Equally valuable is the glimpse it affords of how the different chapters of the Gurdjieff Foundation--the principal organization directly descended from Gurdjieff's own Institute--provide their members with the special conditions needed t. Barbara Wright said Excellent Summation. This summation has been taken from other sources, but it is helpful to see it in this form. The book is beautifully designed, and since it's small, can be carried in a purse or pocket and easily referred to. The survey of Gurdjieff's teaching is very comprehensive and worth studying and pondering, as it allows an overview that contains the flavor of his work.
