DESCRIPTION:
Michelle Huber said Book has great pics but not in as good shape as described. The book itself had great pics and info but many of the pages were torn and taped heavily. It was an old library book which I did not realize when purchasing so it makes sense that it was torn. I just wish they were more forthright when describing it. I would have found a different book to purchase.
Unbroken by chapter divisions, the text will draw browsers and report writers alike. Phyllis Perry's Crocodilians (Watts, 1997) offers much the same information and includes habitat maps. Close-up pictures of the animal's stomach and its contents, along with other internal organs, have a certain gross appeal. They are offset by delightful photographs of hatchlings and a gator mom nose to nose with her baby. Markle's appealing title won't sit on library shelves for long.Anne Chapman Callaghan, Racine Public Library, WICopyright 1998 Reed Business Informa
With stunning color photographs of developing alligator babies as well as their huge parents and with clear, accessible text, Sandra Markle invites children to learn all about these unique and fascinating creatures. How can an alligator swim swiftly with its short, stubby legs? How can it open its big mouth and grab prey underwater without getting water in its lungs? Why would an alligator guard a big mound of plants and mud? "Outside and Inside Alligators" answers these questions and many others. Curious young readers will delight in this close look at alligators -- from the inside out!
