True Women is a very well written novel based on historical facts researched by the author regarding her female ancestors. Some may remember the movie version, which was the reason I wanted to read the book. It is quite a testimonial about the love and lives of the strong and brave women that helped to shape this country and the hardships they endured. I found it fascinating. the author captured the flavor of the period extremely well and in great detail.
In the next generation, another doughty heroine, Bettie Moss, marries William's son Henry King and copes with five siblings and a daughter, the Great Depression and the rise of the Klan in Texas.
